Chief of Police Rod Sniffen

Chief Sniffen joined the Edmonds Police Department in March 2022 as the Assistant Chief of Patrol Services. Before this role, he spent 32 years with the Everett Police Department. In March this year, he stepped in as the Interim Chief of Police following Chief Michelle Bennett's retirement.
During his tenure in Everett, Rod served in various roles, including master police officer, intelligence detective, training officer, administrative sergeant, special operations lieutenant, and precinct captain. He was a member of SWAT, the Honor Guard, ALERT, and served as a TAC Officer at the Basic Law Enforcement Academy. Chief Sniffen holds a Master's Degree in Organizational Management specializing in Public Administration and a Bachelor's in Law Enforcement Administration. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, class #257.
Chief Sniffen's primary goal is to continue leading the Edmonds Police Department in alignment with its mission and values while upholding its commitment to the city of Edmonds and its residents. He is dedicated to maintaining the department's standards of excellence until a permanent Chief of Police is appointed.
