Highway 99 Community Renewal Project

PURPOSE

The neighborhood around Hwy 99 is an important part of the Edmonds community. The area already offers a range of great businesses, mixture of housing types, wonderful outdoor amenities, such as Lake Ballinger and the Interurban Trail, and is connected to the greater region with high-frequency public transportation options. Residents, workers, and visitors all enjoy this evolving neighborhood.

But there are opportunities for improvement. The neighborhood is still experiencing issues with unattended buildings, unsafe traffic conditions, homelessness impacts, and nuisances. In response, the City has launched the Highway 99 Area Renewal Project to bring neighbors together in a positive way to identify near- and longer-term solutions for the City to focus its resources.

We expect the project will result in a set of actions the City could take to help with neighborhood renewal based on the neighborhood’s needs and desires. Stay tuned as the webpage gets updated with more information.
