Who can apply for a CPL at Edmonds Police Department:
Applicants must be at least 21 years old, a citizen of the United States (or permanent resident alien) and live within the city limits of Edmonds. Many Edmonds addresses fall within unincorporated Snohomish County. Unincorporated residents need to apply with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. Applicants unsure of where to apply can verify their law enforcement jurisdiction here. Out of state residents may apply at any Police Department or Sheriff’s Office in Washington.
How to apply for, renew or replace a CPL:
Applications may be obtained directly from Edmonds PD or downloaded here. Please wait to sign the bottom until the time of your appointment.
New Licenses: Applications are processed by appointments only on Wednesday or Thursday, between 9am-4pm and require fingerprinting. Appointments can be made by calling 425-771-0200 Monday-Friday, 0830-4:30pm. Applications are processed within 30 days of receipt or 60 days for those who have not been a Washington resident for the previous ninety consecutive days. The fee is $49.25 and payment can be made via cash, credit or check (made payable to the City of Edmonds).
Renewals/Replacements: Renewals are CPL’s that have an expiration date of 90 days in the future. The fee for renewal is $32.00. Late renewals are CPL’s that expired within the last 90 days. Late renewals include a late fee penalty for a total of $42.00. A CPL can be replaced if it is lost, stolen, damaged, or the owner has a name or address change. The fee for a replacement license is $10.00. Renewals, late renewals, and replacements can be processed in person, without an appointment, Monday-Friday, 830-4:30pm. Payment can be made via cash, credit or check (made payable to the City of Edmonds).
Military personnel unable to renew on time as a result of out-of-state deployment/assignment may qualify for an exemption to the 90-day renewal time limit. Applicants must apply within 90 days of returning to Washington State and provide proof of deployment/assignment dates.)

Timeline for receiving your CPL:
In accordance with RCW 9.41.070 approved CPL’s will be sent to the mailing address on the application unless other arrangements are made with the Edmonds Police Records department. CPLs are valid for five years from the date of issue.
If the application is denied, you will receive communication informing you of the reason(s) for denial along with information on how to appeal the denial. If you have lost your firearm rights, you may petition the court of record where you reside or where the conviction occurred for the restoration of your rights. Out-of-state convictions are more complex when it comes to restoration of your rights; you may wish to consult an attorney for advice or assistance. Reciprocity:
Washington has reciprocity for concealed pistol licenses issued by certain other states, so long as the handgun is carried in accordance with Washington law.
