On December 17, 2024, Council passed an Ordinance 4376 to place all non-mandated boards and commissions on pause or 'stand-by' during the 2025 and 2026 budget years.

Due to legal mandates, boards and commissions exempt from this pause include Planning Board, Civil Service Board, Disability Board, Lodging Tax Advisory Board, and Cemetery Board. The length of board member and commissioner terms will not be altered, meaning the paused years won't count toward their active term. The expiration date of their term will be extended accordingly to account for the pause.

The ordinance allows for some flexibility in this pause, and allows the Mayor or the full Council, to call a special meeting of a particular board or commission. Additionally, a board or commission chair may also make a request to meet. To request this, the chair of a paused board or commission should send a request for a special meeting through their staff liaison.

The following volunteer boards and commissions serve our community by providing advice and recommendations to the Mayor and City Council regarding programs, activities, and issues unique to their mission and purpose.

At the July 17, 2012 City Council Meeting the council voted to approve Ordinance No. 3890 which allows each of the City's Boards and Commissions deriving its authority from the ordinance codified in Title 10 to appoint a high school or college student to participate as a non-voting member of the board or commission. The Student Representative will attend regular meetings of the body to which they have been appointed but will not attend executive sessions. Only one (1) Student Representative will be appointed to any given board or commission.
