Energy Star

Edmonds City Hall has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) prestigious ENERGY STAR, the national symbol for protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. This signifies that the building performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency.

To earn the ENERGY STAR at City Hall, the City of Edmonds took the following actions:

  • Installed new heat pumps throughout the building. Re-commissioned all HVAC system components.
  • Installed a Direct Digital Control system for the building which is remotely operated.
  • Adjusted operating schedules for building equipment and audited during off-hours.
  • Joined with the EPA as an ENERGY STAR partner and signed up for the ENERGY STAR Challenge
