The Edmonds City Council will as part of its ordinary business, have a discussion and/or decision over whether to add additional parallel parking along the roadway between Edmonds and Caspers Streets.
The City Council will meet August 15, 2017 in the Public Safety Building at 250 – 5th Avenue North, Edmonds, WA 98020. The meeting time is scheduled for 7:00pm in the Council Chambers. Audience participation is welcomed during the “Audience Comments” portion of the meeting.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Sunset Avenue Walkway is being developed to provide an all-weather, ADA accessible route from Bell Street north through Caspers Street with a connection to 3rd Avenue North. The goal of the project is to improve the quality and safety of public access and the enjoyment of Olympic Mountain and Puget Sound views for all Edmonds residents and visitors.
PARKING CONSIDERATIONS:
In order to mitigate for the loss of parking when the angled parking spaces were removed and replaced with parallel parking, City staff conducted turning study to determine where additional parking could be placed without compromising access to adjacent residents. At this point, parking placement was determined only by design possibilities; additional considerations have yet to be made regarding final determinations. Below is an example of the study used for the initial determination:
