ELECTRONIC FILING ALERT:  Effective Sept. 1, 2020, per amended local court rule EDM-GR 30(B)(b)(i), “Pleadings shall be filed electronically by uploading the document in .pdf format to the court through its filing portal on the court’s website.  Parties who do not have access to a device that can file electronically may file pleadings in person, by fax, or by mail to the court.”

Modified Operations due to COVID -19

Effective May 13, 2020, in the interest of public health during the COVID-19 outbreak, Edmonds Municipal Court has modified court operations. The court will reschedule all out of custody court hearings and MRT classes via zoom per Supreme Court Revised and Extended Order Regarding Court Operations 25700-B-618. Edmonds Municipal Court Administrative Order 23-B and Amendment went into effect May 30, 2020 as it relates to court appearances and hearings set. Notice of rescheduled hearings from the court will be sent to counsel if you are represented or via US mail if you are not represented. If your mailing address needs to be updated with the court, please call us at (425) 771-0210.

The court window is closed to the public, but staff are still in the clerk’s office. Staff are available by telephone, and both mail and email at edmcourt@edmondswa.gov will be received. Probation appointments will be conducted via telephone. Your probation officer will call with notice of new appointment date and time. You are required to contact your probation officer at any scheduled time, unless otherwise directed by the Probation Officer. Jury service for the October 1st and 2nd, 2020 term has been cancelled. Passports will not be processed until further notice.

Access to court public safety safeguards:

Anyone who physically comes to the court area, which should only be occurring with permission or order of the court, must use hand sanitizer prior to entering the court area, will be screened by court security for a fever with a touchless thermometer, and must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth.  The court will not be providing masks unless the defendant is indigent.

Participants Summoned for Court:

  1. Fifteen minutes before your hearing, test your connection and make yourself available to speak to your attorney, either:

  2. log onto the Zoom app or website and click “Join a Meeting.” If it asks you for a meeting ID, we have set the meeting ID as the courthouse phone number. Enter as it appears here 4257710210

  3. you will need (1) a computer with internet access and a camera, (2) a laptop with internet access and a camera, or (3) a smartphone with a camera.

(2) To participate by phone for a Remote Hearing:

  1. Fifteen minutes before your hearing call in to Zoom to make yourself available to speak to your attorney and test your connection.

  2. If you only have a telephone, you can still dial in to the hearing and the parties can hear you but not see you at the hearing, and you can hear those participating. You will be muted until your case is called or until your attorney needs to speak with you.

THE OPEN COURTS PROVISIONS OF WASHINGTON LAW ALLOWS ACCESS TO COURT PROCEEDINGS. Remote hearings will be livestreamed via the Court’s YouTube Channel. Once on the channel you will need to click on the live hearing video to play. VIDEO OR AUDIO RECORDING IS PROHIBITED. The public may view the proceeding while it is happening, but is prohibited from recording the proceeding. Anyone who records the proceedings, other than an official court reporter, may be held in contempt of court. After the livestreamed session of court, the YouTube session will be permanently deleted and cannot be accessed. The official record will be the court’s own audio recording in the courtroom, which is required.

 JURY TRIAL STATUS:  The current jury term scheduled will not be going. Please make sure to call Wednesday after 5:00 p.m. on your scheduled jury term to see if you will need to appear. Thank you for your willingness to serve.
