Update on Edmonds
overlaysThe City of Edmonds will continue its efforts to rehabilitate and preserve our roadway network by paving a number of area streets this summer. The City expects to award a paving contract to its low-bidder, Lakeside Industries, in April. Lakeside will likely start work in May by replacing several pedestrian ramps with new, fully ADA compliant ramps. They will then begin street paving in July. That phase will take approximately 3-4 weeks. The total cost of this project is $1,600,000. Residents are encouraged to visit overlays.edmondswa.gov for a map of this year’s streets and schedule updates.

The city fell behind in street paving during the last economic downturn between 2007 and 2011. Rebounding City revenues, primarily Real Estate Excise Tax, and excellent political leadership, have allowed us to pave streets every year since then and we have nearly caught back up! Paving is something you need to do every year to keep our streets in a sustainable condition. Thanks to our Mayor and City Council for prioritizing this issue and allowing us to be successful.
